CBD and Pets

Benefits of CBD for your pets include:

Stress and anxiety reliever

Just like in humans, CBD can help with your pet’s anxiety and stress and relieve those symptoms when they occur. Some types of anxiety could be separation anxiety, travel anxiety certain phobias like loud noises such as fireworks, thunderstorms, etc.

CBD has the ability to control the amount of seizures, tremors and muscle spasms a pet may be having because it is a natural anticonvulsant. Seizures occur when there are sudden uncontrolled disturbance within the brain which changes behavior, movements and consciousness.

CBD is also known to help with inflammation. As CBD boosts the immune response system, fighting inflammation is one of them. For instance, it can help with conditions such as arthritis in senior pets and other chronic inflammation that they may be experiencing.

If your pet suffers from chronic inflammation, stress and anxiety, or even sudden seizures, CBD is a viable option with a lot of evidence supporting it.

CBD Compounding

Topical CBD compounded creams and ointments will be able to help with arthritic symptoms by giving a deep and fast relief. Reason for this is because your skin is similar to your nervous system as they do also have endocannabinoid receptors. With this, CBD is able to be absorbed through the skin, relieving the symptoms. CBD topicals are able to help control symptoms of arthritis, muscle pain, eczema, psoriasis and still continues to moisturize the skin. Our pharmacy compounds topical creams infused with CBD and can customize the right dosage for you. We can add ingredients such as lidocaine, menthol, ibuprofen, gabapentin, and other pain relievers.

CBD Consultation

Do you have any questions about CBD? Visit or call the pharmacy at 847-893-0505 and ask Chirag (the pharmacist) for a free consultation. CBD is a very tricky topic for many patients to grasp and there is a lot of false data and “fake CBD” in the market right now.

If you recently purchased CBD products from us, we also do a 7 day follow up call to gather feed back to better serve your needs. Please take this time to share with us your true thoughts on the CBD product(s) you have purchased from us.

Is CBD very expensive? Many retailers take advantag of the popularity of CBD and inflate their prices. We do the exact opposite. Our mark-up is typically 10% from our aquistion cost as we understand that many patients are trying out CBD for a first time and this may not be the right dosage for them or the right type. We are here as independently practicing healthcare professionals to work in your best interest, not to meet corporate financial goals.

CBD Education

Did you know that CBD comes in 3 different forms?

Isolate CBD – This type of CBD is the purified molecule of CBD. This only contains the CBD and not any other phytocannabinoid.

Broad spectrum – this type of CBD contains all the Phytocannabinoid from the cannabis plant except the psychoactive THC.

Full spectrum – Full spectrum CBD contains all the phytocannabinoids of the cannabis plant making it more potent. There is an increased synergistic effect making it more effective towards treatment. This type of CBD contains a negligible and legal amount of THC (<0.3%) that will not produce an euphoria effects or show up in drug tests. This is the CBD that we recommend our patients.

How does cannabidiol (CBD) plays a role in pain management?

We have a complex system of cannabinoid receptors running throughout our bodies. This endocannabinoid system helps regulate the physiological processes, such as pain, stress, sleep, and even immune system. Our bodies have a way to make its own cannabinoids, which activates the system. However, CBD can also stimulate the process and exert its healing effects. Other pain-relivers such as opioids have heavy side effects and are habit forming, which has potential to do more harm if used for long-term. On the contrary, CBD can help in pain management without causing any psychoactive side effects, euphoria, or intoxication.

Anandamide is a signal protein that works on cannabinoid receptors to provide relief from aches, swelling and discomfort. However, it gets broken down after use by another chemical known FAAH. CBD stops FAAH from breaking down Anandamide, so it works indirectly in exerting the effect on cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2).  The indirect mechanism of CBD is the reason why it helps in the pain management without forming a habit.

One of the major advantages of using topicals for pain relief is that it is applied on a localized area and there is no systemic absorption or side effects in the patient. Onset of effect can be observed from 1-2 hours and can last up to 8 hours for topical product. Additional to pain management, CBD product can help relieve and manage inflammation at the localized area as studies have established cannabinoid receptors also directly work on inflammatory response in our bodies.

Benefits of using CBD Spray

There are numerous ways of ingesting CBD such as edibles, oils, sprays, and topicals. So, it can be challenging to make an educated decision on what to use when there are so many products available. Our suggestion for today is – easy and quick to use – CBD Spray.

Compared to other dosage forms, CBD spray comes with its own benefits. First of all, a CBD spray is easiest method for ingestion; you just open your mouth and spray inside onto your cheeks. Within a minute, most of the sprayed CBD will be absorbed through the lining of your mouth. Moreover, one of the very important advantage of using spray is the faster onset of action. This is because a spray in the mouth means that the CBD can be simply absorbed through the lining of the oral cavity. So, CBD sprays are much better for people with seizures or needing a quicker pain relief. Sprays are strongly recommended for people suffering from anxiety because it can work faster to provide relief and helps in improvement of focus and mood.

It is also easier to use for the people experiencing nausea and digestive issues. Patients going through chemotherapy heavily suffer from nausea and cannot tolerate capsules, gummies, or any other edible forms. Additionally, people with digestive issues may not be able to get proper absorption of the medications through intestines. Thus, it makes much more sense for such patients to use CBD sprays for quicker absorption through mouth and a potent effect.

The patients using CBD are advised to self-titrate to figure out what strength works best for them. This is where sprays have a significant advantage because it is easier for patients to use multiple sprays to figure out what dose provides relief. This is similar to when hospital patients are given self-titrating pain relief pumps to use where they can control their own dose of the medicine.

CBD Massage Oils and Therapeutic Benefits

The art of massage has been practiced for centuries to encourage a better sense of emotional and physical well-being. Massages can help relieve muscle pain & joint stiffness, lower stress levels, as well as improve sleep and relaxation. Researchers continue to explore the benefits of integrating CBD oils in massages and the results are refreshingly positive.

CBD oils are natural and known to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Recent studies have shown that CBD massage oils used on inflamed areas have helped reducing swelling and pain, while improving movement. Thus, CBD massage oils can help people who suffer from chronic pain, arthritis, and back pain in not only relieving the pain but also in improving the flexibility and in joints stiffness. The effects can be seen within minutes and it can last for as much as 8 hours.

CBD oils are also known to have anti-anxiety properties, which can help reduce stress and promote relaxation. Massages using CBD oils can create a soothing and calming effect. CBD oil massage is a great way to stimulate senses, enhance relaxation and boost focus and mood. Added benefit of CBD massage oil is that it promotes healthier skin. Studies done with CBD oils have shown improvement in skin conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis and in dry skin with no side effects.

How can CBD help my dog?

Both humans and dogs have an endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays an important role in building and maintaining health. One of the main functions of ECS system is to balance other systems of the body. CBD directly works on your pets’ endocannabinoid system to improve their mental and physical state.

Dog chews and hemp oil drops can help your pets in many ways. CBD products can help in reducing pain due to chronic conditions such as arthritis, and help reducing inflammation in joints. Addition to mitigating pain, it also helps in managing cancer symptoms such as nausea and vomiting in pets. It can also improve the appetite in pets without adding any psychoactive effects. CBD can also help in reducing the duration of seizures and may also decrease the number of episodes. Most importantly, CBD can help the pets exhibiting nervousness, hyperactivity, discontentment or responding to environmentally induced stress. It can even help in improving mental well-being of your pets by easing aggressive behavior and managing stress disorders.
